I’m building software for family law firms that automatically categorizes every transaction from financial PDFs during Mandatory Disclosure and Production, and I’m looking for feedback

Streamlining Financial Analysis for Family Law Firms: A New Software Initiative

In the world of family law, the process of Mandatory Disclosure and Production can often feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to organizing and categorizing financial transactions from extensive PDF documents. Drawing from my own experience navigating a divorce, I was determined to find a more efficient solution. After painstakingly categorizing three years’ worth of financial data from bank and credit card statements, I realized there had to be a better way.

During my research, it became clear that most legal technology today focuses heavily on CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and CLM (Contract Lifecycle Management), leaving solo practitioners and small law firms with limited options for automating financial data analysis. With this insight, I decided to take matters into my own hands and develop software specifically designed to assist family law professionals.

Introducing a Game-Changing Tool for Financial Data Categorization

I’m excited to share that I am currently in the process of building a tool that will revolutionize how family law firms handle financial transactions. Here’s what the software will offer:

  • Automated Data Retrieval: Seamlessly extract transaction data from any financial institution and organize it into structured formats such as Excel.

  • Intelligent Categorization: Harness the power of Machine Learning to automatically categorize an impressive 500 million transactions daily.

  • Transaction Analysis: Easily identify whether transactions were conducted online or in person. Additionally, visualize in-person transactions on a timeline with an accompanying map.

  • User-Friendly Export Options: Save categorized data in CSV format for effortless import into your preferred applications, whether that’s Excel, Google Sheets, or others.

Future Features and Progress

Looking ahead, I aim to enhance this tool by incorporating a feature that generates comprehensive forensic accounting reports. I have already created an alpha version that serves as a glimpse into what this software can achieve. You can view the automated report here: Forensic Accounting Report Alpha.

This report was generated automatically, with the only manual adjustments made in Figma being formatting tweaks. The model utilized transaction descriptions, dates, and categories derived from the software itself.

Call for Collaboration and Feedback

At this stage, I am actively seeking feedback from legal professionals, particularly those in solo practices or small firms who may benefit from this tool. Your insights would be invaluable as I refine and enhance
